How to Reset “Maintenance Required” Dash Indicator Light in the s2000

Resetting the Maintenance Req’d indicator in the Honda s2000 is a very simple process:

1. Insert the key into the ignition, turn it all the way to position II (do not start the engine).
2. Turn the key back to the OFF position.
3. Press and hold the trip reset button on the dash.
4. (While still holding the trip reset button) Turn the key all the way to position II. In about 15 seconds, the Maint Req’d light will go out.

The indicator light automatically triggers every 7500 miles to remind you that you need to change oil and check all fluids. It is not an indication that anything is actually wrong with the car.

It is hard to put civil voice to how angry I am about that light, and much I think honda sucks for it. If they wanted to be helpful then put a maint reminder light. DO NOT TELL ME SOMETHING ON MY CAR HAS FAILED AND IT NOW NEEDS REPAIR. First time it came on I cancelled a trip becuase I thought my car actually needed repairs.

    Here is some helpful info.

The following site is one that I always use. They have FREE instruction videos to reset your srs, airbag, maintenance required, brake and other lights. Instead of paying a dealer hourly you can find info for FREE without using a scanner. Another cool thing they have is new parts from the dealer with up to 40% discount. Check it out.
